Another Birthday Abroad

by Jason B. on February 25, 2010

For the second year in a row I spent my birthday in Latin America. Last year in Colombia at a funky restaurant turned disco, Andres Carnes de Res. This year in Quito, Ecuador, starting at a Beatles themed bar called Strawberry Fields.

I celebrated the night leading up to my birthday with Carolina and Juan Francisco. Just 2 people? It might appear that the small celebration meant a quiet night but it was anything but that.

I really have been amazed at how great of a host Carolina has been since I arrived. Big thanks to her. The following is a picture tour of the night because I don’t remember much outside of the photos!

Frightened

Really nasty stuff

The Beatles bar had some cool decor

And the night ended in a 4th place. Overall a great birthday!

Looks like a good time. I would love to travel S. America, do you have any plans to go to Cartegena?

Thanks it definitely was a lot of fun. I don't plan on going to Cartagena but have been there a couples times in 2007 and 2008.

That was an interesting post…I laughed out loud when the cows came on the beach.

I always love to be away on my birthday, not just as a present to myself, but because most of my favorite memories of traveling happen to be my birthdays. It is great to hear that you have these experiences. Thanks for sharing this with us, it brings up some fond memories for me… Also, Happy birthday!

Thank! I agree I think the past 2 birthdays of mine definitely rank as some of the best. Where have you spent some of your birthdays abroad?

I have had birthdays in Germany, Brazil, and Austrailia. Another on a cruise ship in Mexico and many others in random US cities. I generally try to be away for my birthday now!
