Malaysia: The Hub of Southeast Asia

by Jason B. on February 27, 2011

Malaysia is a pretty nice country to serve as the main airport hub for Southeast Asia. That’s how I ended up in Kuala Lumpur last August during my journey through Asia.

I came by accident but was excited by the city’s sites. You may have heard of the The Petronas Towers . It used to be the tallest building in the world with 88 floors and I swear once you see it in person you wouldn’t doubt it.  Don’t be like me and just admire it from the bottom. You can visit the Petronas towers for free by go early! You can visit these towers only a few times a day.

On Kuala Lumpur’s excellent transportation system you can take the commuter rail to directly to the Batu Caves. This site is well known for the three limestone caves. One of which is used by Hindus as a temple.

Want cheap clothing and real Chinese food? Visit Chinatown at Petaling Street. Like other Chinatown’s around the world you will find bargains for knockoff designer clothing and bags. If that’s not what you’re into try a dish from from a real Chinese restaurant. Not the kind where you order General Tsao chicken in America.

Of course there are other sites not to miss like theMasjid Jamek or even KL Tower. Like I mentioned earlier you’ll find Malaysia flights pretty easily from almost anywhere in S.E. Asia using JetAbroad.com.au if you’re coming from Australia, for instance.

The Batu Caves are just on a short distance from Kuala Lumpur
