Use One of the World's Biggest Corporations to Attract More Local Business

by Jason B. on October 31, 2011

When I finally do settle down I have one of the best plans to attract local customers to my career consulting business. The method is dead simple to setup and gets fast results. I am talking about Google Places.

Take a look at the photo pictured below. I typed "City" + "Resume Writer" into Google and got these results for local resume writing businesses. Which of the links below would you click on first to find out more information? If you choose anything other than the one result with five, five star reviews you would be crazy. That listing is actually mine.

Within one week of adding my business to Google Places I have received two calls. One of those calls lead to a US$150 sale. The client and I met at a local cafe to hammer out her order in a couple hours. My life is still quite unstable location-wise. While I am currently in the city that I have listed my business at, it will change soon enough. When that time comes I can work out a commission agreement with another local business to earn referral bonuses.

When I do finally settle down in one place for long enough I will definitely take advantage of this strategy. The reviews are easy enough to obtain with more than a few thousand satisfied customers I can request reviews from. I only have five reviews now but a couple hundred in the near future is not a stretch at all once I email my past clients asking them to help me out.

I am a graphic designer specializing in screen printing. My clientele mostly consists of out of state customers, and I am trying to take things to the next level to build up that client base to be able to make this business as location independent as possible. I don’t know why I never thought about adding my business to Google Places before. It is a great way to make some great contacts and clients in my backyard while I am here. Thanks for the kickstarter!

I hope it works for you. It is very important that customers leave you reviews though.
