Why I use Fly.com as my airfare search engine

by Jason B. on October 18, 2010

Fly.com/uk is an airfare search engine. We all know that many exist, but how many do a good enough job of finding the cheapest flights for any given international destination? When i’m in the middle of my travels its a pretty important thing to find what I want and to find it quickly. Well I recently found this airfare search engine and won’t be trying others anytime soon. The site will search the many different sites that let you book flights online and let you choose the flight you want to take. You can then buy the ticket online and when you check in at the airport, your paper ticket will be printed for you.

The first thing that strikes you when you visit the website is the simplicity and elegance of the homepage. Unlike most airfare search engines, it is not cluttered with ads and special deals, which is very refreshing.

The interface is also very straightforward. To begin, simply enter your departure point and destination, as well as the travel dates, and specify how many passengers are flying and whether you want a round-trip, one-way, or multi-city ticket. Fly.com will search a great number of sites and present tickets in order of price. After this, you can refine your search with clearly organized options on the side. The experience on Fly.com/uk is much more user-friendly than other sites, where you have to sort through many ads and other links to find the options you need. Also, since it is a site that is designed specifically for flights, you don’t have to take the trouble to make sure that you are looking for flights and not for hotels or car rentals, which can be a problem on other sites.

In tests, the website was able to find the cheapest flights for both domestic and international flights that were about as low as on any other site. Prices are also presented as a final price, which includes all extra fees. This saves you the trouble of searching for the fine print and figuring out the final price yourself, a hassle that you will find on many other airfare search engines.

One feature that is missing from the site is an option to search with flexible dates. This is a feature that will show you all the flights within a period of about a week, which is very useful if you can afford to be flexible. With this website, each search has specific departure and arrival dates.

That one squabble aside, Fly.com/uk is a great option for finding flights online. It has a great, user-friendly interface, and it can find very competitive prices. I’d highly recommend this website to book your next trip abroad.
