It happens to everyone. You answer the phone and hear someone yelling,
“Hey its James, what’s up?”
“Huh?”
“James. J-A-M-E-S”
“Um…I think you have the wrong number”
Back in the day that’s how a wrong number exchange went. I remember almost having a fit when something like this would happen to me abroad. I can only imagine the poor Colombian’s face when he calls the wrong number only to hear some gringo speak in a language or accent he doesn’t understand. Colombia is completely homogenous whereas if that were to happen in America it would seem ordinary.
Nowadays it is slightly different and incredibly amusing. Just the other day I had this wrong number exchange by text message.
